Infant Development under 6 Months Old in a Family with Smoking Habit

Introduction: Fastest developmental period of infants is on their first six months life. However, smoking a habit in Indonesia, done mostly by adult male (47.5%) 30-34 years old group (33.4%) which can harm others, especially family. Secondhand smoke, defined as environmental smoke that contains more than 4,000 dangerous chemicals, the major cause cigarette exposure, and home main place where children get exposed. Exposure secondhand affect fetal brain, specifically neurodevelopment stage, infant development.Methods: This study used analytic observational with cross sectional approach. Sampling method was cluster sampling. involved 103 subjects who came to selected primary health center. Data family collected interview, infant’s development examination screening tool Pre-Screening Development Questionnaire (KPSP). were analyzed chi-square correlation test between infant's development.Results: Number families dominant exposed father (28.1%), followed exposure other members (25.2%), (7.8%). Infants not tend pass (67.5%). There no significant relationship (p = 0.128).Conclusion: Although insignificant, parents should consider due infants’ development.
